Band 6+: The increasing reliance on online communication has led to a decline in face-to-face interactions, particularly among young people. What problems does this pose, and what steps can be taken to encourage more personal communication?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s modern era, more and more people prefer communicating online to interacting directly face-to-face, especially among young adults. There are several consequences in results, and ways to encourage direct communication as well. In this essay, I will give further details of problems and solutions for this trend.

To start with the problems that are caused by this phenomenom, some specific skills relating to ways of communication are diminished. As online conversation not only does not require immediate reaction like offline does, but it also creates a space where people can express their emotions without being seen. That somehow effects communications in real life. For example, one needs to be polite even though another are telling an ashamed story, when chatting online, people can judge the story teller, but it can not be showed off in reality.

For the solutions, it is a better start for everyone to have more outdoor entertaining spots. By advertising those places, people can gain interest in going out, and in that situation, they definitely need to speak directly to each other. And for working and studying purposes, the school and the company schould have a special room for meeting only, which people can discuss and cooperate with each other right away, instead of going home and calling each other.

In conclusion, communication online results in some unwanted effects but there are solutions to encourage people having communication offline, which is much better.
