Usually, seniors tend to occupy high ranks in companies around the world. Nonetheless, some people believe that younger employees would make better bosses. Although there might be some exceptional young leaders, I firmly believe that older people are better suited for such important positions.
Young people can indeed create and make companies flourish, despite their age. However, the majority of them are often not experienced enough for such endeavors. For example, around 80% of new startups, usually created by young people, fail in the first several years. This highlights some flaws in the management style of younger bosses. Thus, some organizations around the world prefer not to hire them for high positions to avoid the risk of failure.
Older people, on the other hand, are more skilled in this field. It is no secret that most organizations have people in their 40s or 50s as their chairpersons or CEOs. There is a reason for this: older people usually gain a plethora of experience throughout their careers, which they then apply to real-world problems. Therefore, older leaders in higher roles are more valued and preferred over younger bosses. Moreover, older executives possess wisdom and foresight that helps them not only to perform better in the present but also to anticipate future challenges and work towards them.
In conclusion, while there are still 20% of successful young bosses, I strongly believe that it is better to choose experienced and farsighted individuals over the youth to ensure the success of the company.
