Band 5+: The manufacturing and use of cars damages the environment but their popularity is increasing. Why is this? How could this be controlled?

Nowadays, cars have become an essential part of daily life. Due to this the environment is damaging like air pollution. This happens mostly first of all because of comfort and status. The solution to this problem will be repair public transports and make them more safe, comfort and available for everywhere.

The main reason why using cars is significantly increasing is convenience. Waiting for a bus for hours takes a lot of time while cars allow travel to whatever they want to go without worrying about public transport schedules. This is really important in the places where buses and subways are unreliable. Furthermore, owning a car is often associated with social status and financial success. As people’s incomes increase, they choose to buy new, modern and expensive vehicles. For example, people from America, they can drive at 16 and almost everyone has a car.

However, these issues can be solved in several ways. Firstly, governments and employers should invest money to make public transport more safe, comfortable and available everywhere. Another measure would be to encourage the use of environmentally friendly cars, like electronic cars and also make buses electronic will decrease air pollution problems. In addition, governments can force individuals to be able have only one car or in one family maximum 3 or 5 cars depending on family members.

In conclusion, the number of cars that are rapidly rising will damage the environment as a result there will be bad consequences in human health in the future. However, there are some solutions that can minimize car numbers by governments.
