Band 5+: The news media should focus more on good news rather than bad news. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Media a tremendous source of information. Undoubtedly, it plays a vital role , provides us context of events, latest inventions, is going around us . In general being a bottomless source of data. However, the news we consume related to incidents , thefts , crime, most of the time inclined towards negativity. Is it because it is more inducing or is it really capable of catching our attention. It is questionable why news broadcasting is terribly focused on negative aspect of information. Positive aspects of things must also be emphasised on .

News is widely consumed all over the world as the most reliable source to collect information. A great deal of people who sometimes blindly believe it , listen to it to stay updated or to get general context about the things that are particularly occurring around the glove . Hardly does one find some good news which is broadcast. They utterly relie on the specific source. Furthermore, one tend to regard whatever shown in the news as a reality what it does is influence them in various ways . What one consumer on regular basis has significant effect on our lives whether its bad or good

I strongly support the idea of reporting including slices of positivity, light in there . As news is overdosed with terribly filled with disheartening incidents , atrocious crimes , and what not . Not only does it enormously effect mental health of the person intentivly listening to it but also impacts his outlook. It does adds something to his life that is pessimistic attitude when one sees that so many awful things are happening around us shown by reporters . It eventually affect even indirectly his mental stability, attitude and reaction towards daily occurances . Although theses type of news is not completely bad . This particular kind of news is considered to help people become more aware , attention, and cautious these immensely help one to prevent or abstain himself from being a victim of these circumstances. Undisputedly , Awareness is necessary . On the other hand , intense or extreme consumption of negative news is harmful as a survey conducted in Us in 1986 , elucidated that every morning 75 % adults watch news and it is also said that nine times out of ten the news revolves around something that is not specifically pleasant to hear or see . This specific data potrays the fact that news is extremely inclined towards unpleasant things. Consuming negative news will eventually makes us less optimistic, more stressed and unnecessary anxious said by us scientiest who conducted the above mentioned study . Should more good news is there , it will surely have some implications on one’s mind . Were news channels to put few plesent news every so often , it would be much better and more balanced rather than sole terrible things .

To conclude this all , I must admit that although it feels nice to hear good news all the time . Nonetheless, it is equally critical to be aware of not so positive events occurring as they leads us towards awareness which will ultimately help us overcome unfortunate incidents if we ever come across, then it won’t be sudden for one , perhaps because of sudden occurrence of bad event without any knowledge could be hard for one to get past .
