Band 5+: The only reason people work hard is to earn more money. There are no other reasons to do it. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is believed by some individuals that making money is the mere cause of working hard and there are no other reasons. I partially disagree with this statement. Although some people attempt seriously to just make ends meet, it cannot be the sole reason for working hard.

Earning money cannot be the main motivation of hard-work, for these reasons: Firstly, there are some people who, despite the constant amount of salary they receive monthly, are eager to carry out their social responsibility perfectly. This is an innate character to help others. For instance, doctors working in a hospital emergency feel exhausted of working there but they want to save patients’ lives, although without any extra money or volunteers who try none-stop to limit child labouring, are another instance. Moreover, numerous individuals work hard to statisfy themselves. Attaining the feeling of accomplishment, people work intensely to finish their tasks. For example, a PhD student stay awake at nights to complete his or her thesis or a painter makes a lot of efforts to end the portrait.

On the other hand, there are some people who claim that in today’s cut-throat world of business, members of a society need to work harder than before in order to just providing themselves and their families with the life necessities, such as paying bills or buying food. Don’t they attempt seriously for their lives, workers won’t be able to have a satisfying life because of lack of money.

In conclusion, although working hard might brings about more earning money, it is not the sole reason for some people who have humanitarion ambitious goals.
