Today, the world is being digitalised and it is common to see personal information stored on computers instead of paper by many companies. In my opinion, advantages of doing this outweigh the disadvantages.
To begin with, most of the organisations today have replaced paper documents with digital files. In India some of the state governments have even organised several missions for digitalising public offices. One of the main advantages of storing data on computers are, easier data processing. For instance, before the era of digitalisation people had to wait for hours or sometimes days to get their files done. But with this technological advancement people do not have to wait in long queues anymore because the files are more organised than before. Additionally, this also helps individuals to get government and other services online.
Furthermore, paper documents have the potential risk of being damaged unless it is secured. For instance, older files can be damaged due to termites or moisture if not protected properly. In contrast, this does not happen with information stored digitally, as it can be backed up and preserved for long periods.
Meanwhile, digital data can be leaked if it is not provided with proper security. For example, there have been some incidents in which the information was hacked by hackers, which led to the leaking of thousands of data.
In conclusion, the benefits of storing information on computers outweigh the drawbacks. While there may be data leaking risks, they can be prevented by making the system more secured and protected
