It is said that, the rising impact of social media is playing a big factor in connecting with people. However, some believes that, rapidly growing social media is leading to the loss of face-to-face interactions in our daily lives. I am of the opinion that, social media has changed our views of how we perceive each other, with many people building a fake persona online. This is how majority of individuals start comparing themselves with a superficial digital personas of many.
On one hand, social media’s such as LinkedIn or Facebook is a huge platform, where number of people find connections. For instnace, these platforms provide individuals for opportunities including networking, mentorship, and placements. Furthermore, connections and opportunities found on these platforms can be a great way to build your career.
On the other hand, a significant number of people are influenced easily. For example, many influencers on social media post about countless vacations, and luxury items, which makes individuals to often feel a sense of inequality. Constant exposure to contents similiar to these can affect badly on one’s self-esteem. Furthermore, not only is it harmful to the consumer, it also often results in overconsumption. The desire to feel fit in is in a mind of many people. The life of a normal citizens cannot be compared to someone, whose job is to make content and make it look as good as possible.
iin conclusion, social media, on one hand, can be effective at finding opportunities and connections online. On the other hand, social meda can set unrealistic expectation in many, which is not a healthy lifestyle.
