Band 5+: The tendency of news reporters in the media to focus more on problems and emergencies than on positive developments is harmful to the individuals and the society as a whole. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is said that most of the news’ contents in social media are about negative parts of the society and talk about the issues rather than considering the progress of the communities. This statement has detrimental consequences on people’s mentality. I completely support this viewpoint, and I will demonstrate my reasons in following paragraphs.

On the one hand, as long as unfavorable news is pervasive on social media, individuals give negative energies from this news. It results in a large number of stresses and anxieties which lead to their depression. If a community suffers from mental issues, they do not have any hopes and encouragements to improve the quality of their lives. So, they have never endeavored to increase their societies’ successes. For example, when there is a war in a country, the residents will not buckle down on their tasks and duties in their work or universities, because, not only they do not have any enthusiasm but also they should try to prevent their enemies. Thus, the individuals’ minds are getting involved by unsuitable messages which are ubiquitous in their social platforms.

On the other hand, it is claimed that it is necessary to publish the negative phenomenon in society to be solved by authorities. In many cases, the problems are serious as the community needs international assistments. For instance, the sophisticated earthquake that happened in Turkey a couple of months ago. In this situation, the Turkish people absolutely required the other countries’ help. Thus, the negative messages need significant consideration to be solved by distinguished intellectuals.

In conclusion, I totally agree with this statement which has some repercussions such as mental issues, decreasing both people and society’s successes. However, it should be mentioned that many assistments from other countries is enabled by pervasive the problems on social media.
