It Is argued that mobile phones should be banned in public places. I completely agree with this idea, as mobile phones can be a serious distraction, and they may also interfere with other group activities.
One of the most important advantages of banning mobile phones in public places is helping people concentrate more effectively. In some public places like libraries, people should stay focused on their studies and homework, and mobile phones can encourage some students to scroll through social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Besides libraries, it is vital for drivers to pay much attention on driving to avoid accidents. In Tehran, for instance, 88% of people driving cars use their own smartphones, and 55% of them report the near-accident experience. This example clearly shows that authorities should impose regulations on using mobile phones.
Another benefit that banning mobile phones in public places offers is respecting people’s time and energy. In some public places, including cinemas and galleries, some people travel to certain parts of a cities to engage in artistic activities, spending a lot of time and money. However, some people there, start a long conversation by their phones, which prevents others from having enjoyable moments. Furthermore, in some places, such as restaurants and cafés, some business meetings are held, where professionals have to make informed decisions, and their activities should not be interrupted because of noise pollution, like mobile phone sounds.
In conclusion, I totally support those who believe people should not be allowed to use their smart phones in public places, as banning phones helps them to increase their effectiveness while studying and driving, and it reduces noise pollution in some places like cinemas and restaurants.
