The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. I believe that this has more benefits than drawbacks.
The disadvantage of this development is that most people can easily misunderstand when they communicate through social media because they cannot see body language, tone of voice, or facial expressions. Whereas face-to-face interaction can see all of these. Despite this, there are significant advantages it can bring to people’s lives, Firstly, the social media can increase efficiency in maintaining for long-distance relationships because they can send video clips that they like to each other. They can share activities together through application such as Strava for couples who like running and They can learn more each other’s personalities through private social messages. In addition to this, on a wider level it may also benefit in emergency situations, as problems can be solve immediately because people can share the information via personal social media and the information can spread immediately. For example, when the hospital shares information about blood shortage and patients need blood. After receiving this information. People can share it or go to the hospital to donate blood. Another example is when people lose their pets. They can post announcements online. If someone finds the pet. They can inform the owner.
I would therefore argue that although there are disadvantages of the current trend, they are outweighed by the advantages.
