There is a contentious topic that as an increase in the number of crimes recorderd, whether capital punishment would be an effective deterrent or other rules should be implemented. While I argue that death penalthy would amoliorate the problem of the growth of offences, I believe that there are other ways to mitigate the problem, such stronger law enforcement, and rehabilitation programs, which could tackle the problem.
One reason why I hold a view that sentencing criminals to death penalthy is a sane decision is that because it will discourage people from commiting crimes, due to the fear of dying. They will not tend to do something illegal as it would result in serious repercussions for them. In addition to this, it provides the justice for victims, who faced struggles of being exposed to serious crimes. It would be better if victims’ family members would ensure that the revange was gained, therefore they feel somewhat compensated of their loss.
On the other hand, there are other options to deviate people to commit crimes successfully rather than killing someone deliberately. First and foremost, governments can enact stringent law enforcements to warn people in pursuit of malicious attacks beforehand. The system of punishments and the fear stemming from them could be stirct enough to promote a decrease in the numbers of criminals. Moreover, rehabilitation programs could be offered in prisons so as to hinder the impulse of re-offenders to do the same thing again. Having committed the crime, they could not be accepted by the community, however, authorities can encourage them under strong surveillance to create a normal atmosphere for them while earning salary, rather than making them much more stressful, thereby creating new perpetrators.
To conclude, once both views have been discussed above, I am of the opinion that, while sentencing wrongdoers to death could seen as beneficial deterrant, I believe that other methods could avert people from doing illegal issues.
