It is sometimes argued that money is the main reason why a person stays working for the same company. Although I acknowledge the importance of money in people’s lives, I still think that it is not the main reason in all situations. In fact, there are a wide range of other explanations which affect whether a person decides to continue with a company or not.
It is undeniable that money may be a decisive factor for someone to be devoted to a company, for the simple reason that they think they can ensure a stable life. Specifically, the steady income allows people to be likely to make a living; therefore, they don’t need to think too much about unexpected changes in terms of money. People who are married and have a child can be a typical example. This is because those people want to have a long-term job to be able to bring home the bacon, thereby leading a life where they can control their finances. Nonetheless, this tendency is less common among the young generations than it used to be. The youth usually break the double standard when it comes to a conventional lifestyle such as starting a family before 30 years old for women and 35 for men. Now that they currently highly value experience and what they love rather than a predetermined life.
I would agree that finding a fitting job is also a foundation of having a long-term commitment with a company. This means that understanding strengths and interests is very necessary to be truly dedicated to a business. In other words, money is not the only contributory factor in employees’ decision to stay with an organization but also the abilities and passions. As a result, trying different jobs allows workers to have many experiences to find a suitable job, hence a long-term loyalty to a firm. Without great competence and preferences, it will be difficult to have a willingness to remain with the enterprise in the long run.
To summarize, it is true that money can be a situational factor for working in the same company. Nevertheless, I take the view that this is not the major cause since finding a career that aligns with your useful skills and strong interests would be equally important.
