In recent times, the advent of computer technology has done wonders for the human’s lives, especially allowing people to work as well as learn online in lieu of going to the company or school. This essay will analyze my viewpoint that this phenomenon exerts both positives and negatives.

On the one hand, there are two main rationales to explain why the increasing number of people choosing work and study from home can be regarded as a negative development.

First of all, it can pose a threat to the mental and physical health of those who select to work online. More specifically, people may suffer from several health concerns such as eyestrain, back pain and obesity provided that they may allocate too much time to sit in front of the technological devices and have their eyes glued on the screens. Moreover, the less in person interaction with others they have, the more they feel isolated. In other words, they may be likely to feel fear of having face to face conversation with their colleagues, friends or even their families.

On the other hand, it is undeniable to suppose that there are still advantages of working and studying at home.The first one is that it may reduce the burden of commuting costs. To clarify, in place of paying for the fuel fees for private vehicles or other fees like that, they merely need technological devices such as computers or laptops, whose price is much cheaper than traveling fees, in order to finish their tasks, meet the deadlines, or have access to classes and courses. As a result, they can spend more money on other significant aspects of life like healthcare or investing. Another point is that this practice can provide them a flexible schedule, which may foster work proficiency and learning efficiency as well. An employee, for instance, who works from home may feel more relaxed and flexible in work management thanks to the familiar and comfortable home environment. This may potentially bring about the highest task-finished quality.

In conclusion, while there are several drawbacks of the tendency that there are more and more people working at their own home, it still makes a sizable contribution towards their work and lives.
