In this day and age, most people have the tendency to preserve their health by the reliance on physicians and drugs instead of living healthily. From my point of view, I strongly disagree with this belief because relying upon medicine and doctors has a lot of drawbacks.
There are several reasons why people might lean on medical practitioners and medicaments more than having a healthy lifestyle. Initially, they are too busy with their daily tasks; accordingly, they do not have time to take care of their health. Regardless of eating diet, they would prefer to eat a great deal of delicious junk food even though they know that it is not good for their health. Secondly, it is difficult to maintain a healthy diet for long periods because of boredom and cravings for fast food. For instance, my cousin, who is currently an overseas student in the USA, used to confide to me that she aimed to stay healthy. However, she is so tired of enhancing the balance between her studies and part-time jobs that she cannot be on a diet.
In spite of the above reasons, relying on both medical drugs and doctors has a wide range of effects. Firstly, all of the medications have side effects; therefore, we should not lean on medicine for our whole life. Some difficult diseases which cannot be completely cured may, moreover, have a negative impact on our health and long life. Furthermore, we may have to go to the doctor and take medicine for the rest of our lives. To illustrate, our ancestors said that “prevention is better than cure”, so leading a healthy life forever has more benefits than relying on medicine. What is more, the cost we pay for healing our health is not cheap and we can endure the pain.
On the whole, although some people tend to ask doctors and drugs to help solve their health problems. I hold a strong belief that there are more limitations than benefits if we depend on a great deal of drugs and clinicians to keep our health.
