It cannot be denied that technological developments have changed the way of life for the general public, both in the past and the present. For this reason, I completely disagree with the notion that earlier technological discoveries aided ordinary people’s lives more than recent developments.
Early technological developments undoubtedly improved the way of life for the general public in ancient times by significantly changing the way people performed various functions. This shift from manual methods to sophisticated techniques using machinery led to greater efficiency and effectiveness. For example, before the discovery of the photocopier, people stored important documents by manually writing multiple copies. The introduction of the photocopier brought a significant change to the printing and press industry, as it became capable of duplicating thousands of copies in a short time.
On the other hand, recent scientific breakthroughs in different areas of technology have also brought massive changes. These advancements have enhanced the capacity of earlier machines and introduced new functions and features that allow people to multitask using a single device. For instance, the mobile phone was initially used only for making audio calls. However, recent developments in this technology now offer users the ability to make video calls, enjoy videos, listen to music, and much more.
While early technological innovations paved the way for human civilization by introducing significant technologies and machinery, recent developments have increased the capacity and capabilities of these technologies by adding new features and functions. Therefore, both earlier and recent developments in technology are equally vital in helping ordinary people.
