Nowadays, many children spend too much time watching TV and playing video games. Some people think that these activities are bad for children’s mental health. I agree with this opinion because too much screen time can affect their mind, studies and social life.
There are many reasons why I agree with this statement. First, children who watch TV or play games for many hours can lose their concentration. They may not focus properly on their studies. Also, some video games have violence and this can make children more aggressive. Another reason is that children may spend less time with their family and friends. For example, a child who plays games for five hours every day may not have enough time to play outside or talk with friends. Because of this, too much screen time can be harmful for children.
However, I think TV and video games are not completely bad. There are some educational programmes which can help children learn new things. Some games can also improve their thinking and problem-solving skills. Children can also use these activities for entertainment after completing their studies. But I believe these benefits are less important when children spend too much time on them. If parents give a proper time limit, children can enjoy these activities without getting too much negative effect.
In conclusion, I agree that excessive TV watching and video gaming can negatively affect children’s mental health. Although they have some advantages, spending too much time on themcan affect concentration, behaviour and social life. Therefore, parents should control children’s screen time and encourage them to do outdoor activities.
