In an era of technological advancement, the issue of excessive TV-watching and video gaming has become increasingly pertinent. While some argue that our kids will be positively affected by the aforementioned activities, others contend that these events will undermine our children’s psychological health. This essay will discuss both perspective and argue that these activities indeed hamper our future generation’s mental development.
It is understandable that why some believe that watching TV and playing video games excessively will not negatively affect our kids’ psychological conditions. Firstly, some video games and TV programmes are educational, for example, language teaching games and professional education shows. Provided that our children engage in these activities for longer time, their educational level will be enhanced. Eventually, they will become more knowledgeable, and this can satisfy their mental needs. Secondly, TV shows and video games can bring elation to our future generation. For instance, comedies can bring people happiness. As long as our kids use more time to engage in these events during vacation, they will become more joyful.
In my view, watching TV and playing video games too much will ultimately harm our children’s mental state. Firstly, numerous TV shows and video games will convey unethical messages. For example, some violent films promote physical harm and drug abuses. Our children will become sentimental if they watch such content too much. Secondly, fierce arguments will occur between kids and parents. When adults want to deter their children from being exposed to the aforementioned harmful content, they may quarrel with their kids. As a consequence, both parents’ and children’s psychological conditions will be gravely impacted.
In conclusion, while some believe that children engage in excessive TV-watching and video gaming will not harm our future generation’s mental health, the negative psychological impacts are compelling. Therefore, I insist on the point that watching TV programmes and playing video games too much will harm our kids mentally.
