Nowadays numerous types of foods from cucurbit crops to meat products are delivered to our supermarkets and grocery stores from far-away regions, even overseas. This is due largely to inexpensive importation of food products compared to farming locally or inability to grow them. I hold the view that import and export of foods are not only beneficial to countries shipping them but also the customers buying them globally.
First and foremost, certain varieties of products can be extremely costly to cultivate at home. In others words, growing any types of products such as vegetables, fruits or rearing cattle requires hard work, investment and fertile land, all of which can be more expensive in certain countries like Russia, the USA and France. Therefore, majority of developed countries choose to buy these goods from other agricultural countries or less developed nations as the prices can be significantly lower thanks to mass export as well as difference in value of currencies. On top of that, some nations are not able to grow essential products in their own countries since the land is infertile or unfavorable climate does not allow it. So, purchasing these products helps them prevent hunger and meet the demands.
I believe that delivery of foods from other areas is mostly positive as it helps fight against starvation. As mentioned earlier, not every country is able to supply its nation with sufficient foods with merely locally produced products, for either the land is far from fertile or agriculture has been disrupted owing to constant wars and chaos. For the agricultural nations, it is a good way of developing economically. It is true that while some countries are specialized in manufacturing gadgets or tools, others provide the world with sea food or vegetables. In this way, they collect sufficient money to fund other important sectors of the economy.
With all that in mind, there are many significant reasons why we consume products from other regions, and we can say that it is always beneficial for everyone to share what they have with the ones who lack.
