The modern world has changed a lot as compared to three or four decades ago due to advancements in knowledge as exemplified by computer technology. I would like to agree that even though this has given us numerous benefits in the transport, medical, and communications industries in the world, technology has brought about a plethora of problems.

Firstly, it is true, nowadays computer technology has made it easier to communicate through emails, social media platforms, and TVs across the globe in a second. Currently, we live a global village due to this technology.

Secondly, with the advent of artificial intelligence, computers are diagnosing sicknesses, and they are instrumental in discovering new medicines. Apart from this, some difficult jobs are being done easily using computers, hence, saving lives, improving turn around times, and leaving personnel with plenty of time to do other things. Finally, had it not been for the improvements in technology we could not be travelling in the comfort of electric cars, fast-moving bullet trains, and aeroplanes.

On the other hand, the use of information technology has made people reluctant to think, with some jobs like receptionists and typists being replaced by automated call centres. Therefore, this has pushed many into drug abuse due to idleness, resulting in diseases like obesity and BP. Additionally, some countries abuse technology in making war weapons for example supersonic, hypersonic and ballistic missiles, in addition to nuclear weapons.

In conclusion, technology is good, but the world is in precarious doldrums due to excessive knowledge and over-reliance on machines to do jobs which ought to be done by mere human intervention.
