The impact of technology on employment is a major topic of debate. Some argue that automation reduces job opportunities, while others claim it creates new ones. Both views have valid points.
Those who believe technology destroys jobs point to the rise of automation. Machines and artificial intelligence can perform repetitive tasks more efficiently than humans, leading to job losses in manufacturing, customer service, and even administrative fields. As digital tools evolve, some professional roles may also become unnecessary. This creates uncertainty, especially for workers who lack technical skills and cannot easily adapt.
On the other hand, technology also generates new industries and careers. Jobs in software development, robotics, digital marketing, and cybersecurity exist precisely because of technological progress. Innovations increase productivity and allow companies to expand, which results in additional employment. Many roles today, such as app designer or drone operator, did not exist a decade ago.
In my view, technology ultimately creates more opportunities, but only if workers receive proper training. Governments should invest in education to help people adjust to a rapidly changing labour market.
