It is generally believed that despite the advancement of technology nowadays, conventional health procedures are still widely used in many countries due to the effectiveness to keep the body healthy and strongI. I would prefer modern medicine over the traditional ones and disagree with the statement.
In various developing countries, many people still firmly adhere to the traditional culture where they rely on the mother nature to fulfill many of their needs, including herbal medicine. In fact, some herbal treatment do have benefit for physical health. For example, in Indonesia many people believe that a mix of turmeric, tamarind, and palm sugar can help reduce menstrual cramps. However, this kind of traditional healing method would not give an instant result and it is arguable that this method will have more benefit than the modern medicine in reducing the pain. Moreover, it would not work in several severe ill cases, thus, this method would not meet the demand and could only serve as the secondary treatment.
In this modern world, the advancement of technology has helped many scientists to develop modern medicine to cure many type of diseases. First of all, natural resources cannot provide sufficient amount of vitamins that a human body need. In order to maintain and improve the overall physical and mental health, one must take vitamins which has been proved by many scientists that it can fulfil daily needs of the body. For instance, human body needs at least 1000 international units of vitamin D per day where individuals cannot get if they only rely on foods and sunlight. Therefore they need to take vitamin pills or they would easily get sick and depressed.
All in all, contemporary medicines advantages outweigh the advantages of traditional medicines because it provide the sufficient amount of what the body require and could have an instant result for the body. Therefore, as far as I am concerned modern medicines are way better to enhance and maintain someone’s overall health.
