Many people consider travelling in a guided tour is the best possible option to visiting new destinations, while others argue that the best way is to take trips independently. Personally, I choose to travel in a group led by a professional guide because it is the safest way to travel, also saves huge amount of time when planning the entire journey.
The aspect that stands out when we think about travelling is the language barrier, which could be dangerous in the worst cases, such as injuries or robbery. If you travel is accompanied by a person who speaks a foreign language and understands local regulations and laws, it is almost impossible to get lost and get into trouble. Moreover, often guides lives in a country where they are working, so they know exactly the best local places, where you can find a breathtaking view, and where is a tourist trap.
Additionally, the group tours are usually well-planned and organized, which means that you do not have to spend hours online-searching and worrying about transfers, meals and other operations tasks. Of course, if the goal is to laze around in a new city or visit only those places where there are hoarder of tourists, it is preferable to travel by yourself. However, if travelers want to get a holiday of a lifetime and immerse themsel in the local culture and history, the best chance to do it is organized and planned tour with a guide.
To sum up, I fully agree with the idea that the best journy is one in a group led by a tour guide, because of convenience and reliability that usually comes with those tours. Although for some people it can be opposite, I believe that, especially for a far-off destination nothing can beat tours.
