Stories written whether factual or not are still both catchy to a lot of readers. Reading real-life events is something that people appreciate and relate to their own experiences, while novels and fantasies build up the reader’s imagination.
Real-life stories like biographies and history books provide readers the knowledge and help them understand how a certain event happened during a specific time. One example is the history of the Philippines during Spanish era. How the Philippines was first colonized by Spaniards for more than a century hence the adaptation of their culture and religion. It also emphasizes how Filipinos expressed their minds through writing and how they fought against the Spanish soldiers which resulted in their freedom. The Philippine history teaches every Filipino today how to become resilient and learn to stand for their dignity and liberty.
Many people are also into fictional narratives because it create excitement within their minds. Moreover, it enhances their imagination and they become more creative thinkers. For instance, the novel series Twilight, is a fantasy about two lovers from a different world, a world of normal people, and a world of vampires. Even though it is very unrealistic, readers who love fictional stories also find themselves inspired by the different characters in that novel. Especially how it showed love conquering all fears and unraveling the mystery in it.
True stories and fiction are both captivating depending on every reader’s mind. There are aspects of each that give people satisfaction. As a person who was raised by bookworm parents, I am more interested in reading non-fictional stories because I find it more helpful for my knowledge, curiosity, as well as my perspective.
