In recent years, many academic students have been pursuing their higher education at institutions around the world. Although they gain significant study and work experiences, however, they face a lot of language and cultural barriers while staying abroad. In my opinion, students will benefit from having higher education from institutes across the world, despite their struggle with culture, and linguistic is inevitable.
One of the crucial benefits of studying abroad is that students are exposed to the various practical courses available, which will bring substantial benefits to their future careers. While staying abroad students will experience different practical scenarios which will unless them to be more disciplined, and independent in terms of personal and financial circumstances. in addition, this will also allow them to be better prepared for the future. For example, When I was studying for my master’s degree in Manchester, I experienced various financial difficulties. As a result, I worked part-time as a bartender, which eventually assisted me in becoming familiar with a variety of cultures and people around the area. These challenging experiences are undoubtedly the main advantages of studying overseas because they make you grow as a person.
Regardless, the main challenges students will face while studying abroad are usually with cultural and linguistic differences. These differences can pose massive barriers for students who are not familiar with the local lifestyle and language sometimes might cause uncomfortableness while communicating with the local people. For example, when I was studying for my diploma in Germany, I faced numerous challenges in understanding the local language and I faced almost problems in speaking with co-students in my class.
Studying overseas has become incredibly common. While students will no doubt experience social and language barriers, at the same time, they will gain some life-learning experience that help them in personal growth.
In conclusion, it is the hardship that ultimately makes the experience of studying abroad more advantageous than disadvantageous.
