It cannot be denied that life in the big cities is an issue which frequently generates a great deal of heated debates, with supporters maintaining that there are more comforts of urban life whilst opponents claim that life in major urban areas has become much of a challenge. In this essay, I will look at both sides of the argument and give my opinion.
One the one hand, some people are of the opinion that living in cities is easier than ever before. The first reason is that thanks to the development of technologies and globalization, increasing the number of not only multinational organizations and local companies in big cities, as result, is inevitable. Moreover, more and more people migrate to major urban areas to search for higher employment possibilities and salary as well. In terms of recreation, in big cities there is a great deal of public infrastructures such as museums, movies theatres and shopping centers, therefore, citizens could go to those buildings easily unlike consuming a lot of time in order to reach it. Take shopping as an example, residents could purchase goods from high-end stores just within a short time .
On the other hand, living in the city comes with a set of drawbacks that can significantly impact the quality of life for many individuals. Firstly, a problem about which everyone is worrying is environment. The rise of factories due to industrialization and modernization has led to significant environmental pollution. Emissions from factory chimneys not only contaminate the air but also contribute to severe health issues such as various forms of cancer in individuals exposed to these pollutants. The second drawback of living in the city is the exorbitant cost of living, which encompasses steep housing prices, high rents, and elevated daily expenses. For instance, cities like Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh are renowned for their sky-high housing costs, making it challenging for middle-income earners to afford decent accommodation.
In conclusion, living in big cities offer notable advantages alongside considerable drawbacks. If people know how to live and enjoy their life, living in the city is one of the most interesting things that people want to experience.
