Studying abroad is one of the most significant decisions among young people. It can bring benefits of personal growth and prospects that lead to numerous employment opportunities. However, it has some drawbacks, such as culture shock, language barrier and hectic lifestyles. In this essay, I will demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad.
First of all, people have to step out of their comfort zone and explore new things in the outside world. Studying abroad allows people to learn more in-depth knowledge and gain precious skills. For example, when they meet new friends from different countries, they can learn new languages and diversity of cultures and adapt to their lifestyles. As a result, they can effectively improve soft skills such as communication skills, problem-solving skills, teamwork and emotional improvement. Another significant benefit is that studying abroad helps people gain a lot of job opportunities in every stage of life. In other words, after graduation, students can easily find a well-paid job and ensure financial stability to improve their quality of life and support family expenses.
Turning to the other side of the argument, studying abroad also has drawbacks. Students are faced with (dealt with) problems about culture shock caused by language barriers and unfamiliar lifestyles. If students are not fluent in the local language, it might be difficult for them to understand lectures at school, communicate with teachers and classmates, or complete assignments. The second negative point of studying abroad is the strange climate and food (cuisine). In other words, there are students coming to a nation where the weather or climate is very cold and harsh, which makes people feel difficult to acclimatize. Besides, food is a concerning issue. Sometimes, eating is not very comfortable due to the different taste and flavor of cuisine.
In conclusion, taking everything into consideration, studying abroad brings both advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, when finding difficulty in studying a new country, people have to carefully and patiently come up with the best solution to overcome problems easily. What is more, students make the effort to adapt and obtain new knowledge, experience and skills, which help them become well-rounded citizens.
