In today’s fast-paced world, where family members are busy in their work and study, gathering around the table and have a meal together is considered a social activity. This trend has numerous benefits which are put forth in the subsequent paragraphs and the importance of eating together to people in my country.
There is a plethora of pros of the given notion. Firstly, an person learns to cooperate with other people who are not a part of family. In fact, by participating in family meals, a child learns about cooperation as each family member takes on roles like setting the table, serving food, or cleaning the dishes afterward. It is these menial tasks that makes the child understand the need of cooperation in life. Moreover, a child acquires table manners from their elders when they have a meal together with the family. Indeed, a child gains knowledge about the way they should behave at social gatherings and the proper way of using utensils by observing their parents and siblings. For example, as the family sits down to eat, the child notices everyone say please and thank you when asking for dishes to be passed. Therefore, participating in a family meal could help a child develop social etiquette and table manners.
In my opinion, eating together with the family is a part of the Indian culture because it encourages both family bonding and sharing of emotions. As a matter of fact, family meals are not just about eating; they provide a time and space for family members to connect, discuss their day, and share their feelings. To cite an example, Diwali is a festival in India when families often gather for a large meals where they share stories from the past year and their expectations for the future. Thus, family members not only bond over delicious food but also support each other emotionally giving a sense of belonging and togetherness.
To conclude, sharing family meals offers various advantages like understanding the upside of cooperation in life and learning social etiquettes from elders. Also, I believe that eating together holds a great importance in Indian culture as this promotes family bonding and sharing of emotions among the members.
