Nowadays, there are those who demand that professionals from specific areas, such as doctors or engineers, should remain in the country where they did their training, while others think that they ought to have freedom in choosing their work abroad.
On one hand, those who support the necessity of making professionals work in the country where they did their studies do have their reasons. One of them is the investment made by government. If these workers immediately left after their education, the country would face shortages of professionals in life fields which are vital, for example healthcare. Then, other citizens will be forced to go abroad for treatment.
On the other hand, there are people who think that workers should be free to choose jobs abroad. Freedom of movement is one of the key principles of democracy, and forcing someone to stay could be seen as an act of infringement of rights. Furthermore, working abroad could provide valuable experience and practical skills which could be then introduced to the homeland if the professional decides to come back. For example, India’s medical students often choose the USA or Germany for their internship, and then return back home to improve their healthcare. For this reason, I also believe that people should be free to move abroad for work, as it is a good opportunity to get some extra knowledge.
In conclusion, both views have valid points. The country can suffer from money and people loss because of many professionals moving abroad, however it will be illegal to restrict people in their choice.
