Band 7+: Wild animals no place in the 21 st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Some citizens believe that there aren’t any habitats to live for wildlife in 21st century, and they believe protecting them is a waste of resources. I strongly don’t agree with this position. I’ll explain my views in the following parts.

In the modern age, marked by rapid of advancements in technology and urban sprawl, a controversial discourse has emerged questioning the relevance of wild animals in our contemporary world. Some argue that wild animals have no place in the 21st century and that efforts to protect them are a waste of resources. This view, however, overlooks the fundamental roles that wildlife plays in maintaining ecological balance, cultural significance, and the psychological well-being of humanity. Rather than perceiving wildlife conservation as an expendable resource, society should acknowledge its intrinsic value and the vital need to preserve the natural environment.First and foremost, wild animals play a pivotal role in ecosystems. They are essential for maintaining biodiversity, which supports ecosystem resilience and functionality. Each species, from the largest predators to the smallest insects, contributes to the intricate web of life that enables ecosystems to thrive. For instance, apex predators help regulate prey populations, preventing overgrazing, which can lead to habitat destruction. In conclusion, the argument that wild animals have no place in the 21st century is fundamentally flawed. Rather than waste resources on conservation efforts, society should recognize the essential roles that wildlife plays in maintaining ecological balance, enriching cultural heritage, and promoting human health.
