Space exploration certainly has huge expenses. It is an odyssey outside earth and beyond. The properties for outer space journeys cost a fortune. Although numerous magnificent things are discovered through these explorations, the grand amount of money is better to be spent on current worldwide situations. In this essay, I will explain to what extent I agree with the statement.
To begin, there are numerous problems around the globe such as health, education, sociological matters, hunger, environmental issues, and many more. The money allocated to explore space could be used to help solve these problems. Rather than spent on discovering space objects, the fund could make a bigger and concrete impact on society. For example, the fund could be used for scholarships so that young people could have better and higher education. This can also be a solution to decrease the number of unemployment and poverty. Another reason why is that space explorations cause carbon prints that are polluting the air. Instead of spending money to launch space shuttles, maximizing the money to make more sustainable vehicles or public transportation is a more prudent decision.
However, exploring up beyond the spheres isn’t a total waste of money.
We can still gain new information about the galaxy we are a part of. There should still be an abundant budget for exploration. One of the solutions is to limit the type of exploration. It should have a concrete impact on life on earth. For example, there could be research about how to detect if a meteor starts to head towards earth. Another example could be a study about moon gravitation that has an impact on ocean tides that affects fishermen.
To sum up, the budget for space exploration should be diverted to help solve real life problems on earth. Society needs it more for their daily life because they can feel the impact and most of them aren’t really aware of space. On the other hand, research about space could still be beneficial and impactful on society.
