Technological advancements have significantly transformed the way people access and consume information. With the rapid growth of digital technology particularly electronic books, some individuals argue that traditional printed medial like books, newspapers and magazine are likely to become obsolete in future. While others contend that, conventional forms of media will endure indefinitely. This essay will evaluate both the perspectives before presenting my viewpoint.
To commence with, proponents of digital books assert that accessibility is their remarkable benefit. Electronic reading materials can be accessed instantly through smartphones, tablets and laptops, allowing users to read anytime without carrying physical copies. For instance, internet has various websites that stores updated information, which can easily download in the form of portable document file. Moreover, information saved in computer cannot be deteriorated as they are displayed on the screen. Hence, it cannot be torn or crumbled and produce multiple copies within a matter of few clicks.
On the other hand, I disagree with the notion that technological devices will become the only reading products as traditional reading methods possess undeniable advantages. Firstly, printed books are healthier for human beings than products with electronic screens. Over reliance on digital screens for reading cause significant health problems like vision loss, migraine and frequent headaches as a result of harmful blue light emission. Secondly, more children rely on smart gadgets for studying and homework, they get easily distracted by messages from their friends or social media. In addition, reading printed novels before sleep release hormones which helps to fall asleep easily.
In conclusion, I am in favour of a balanced approach because e books are more convenient and portable, whereas traditional books promote better health without causing eye strain. Hence, it is imperative to adopt a thoughtful approach harnessing the benefits of both while addressing its limitations.
