In this day and age, due to the hectic pace of contemporary life, fast food has become extremely common among many people. In my opinion, although fast food can offer several benefits which suit a busy schedule, the disadvantages completely outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, there are some main reasons why modern citizens rely heavily on processed food. First and foremost, fast food requires a short period of time, only a few minutes, to be prepared and served, which is really compatible with a fast-paced life. As a result, a number of students, workers, and young individuals choose fast food as their regular daily meals. Secondly, fast-food chains have become available in every country around the world, such as KFC and McDonald. These outlets make processed food cheaper and more accessible, which enables people to save money while they still have a convenient and reasonable option.
However, there are severe downsides of consuming fast food excessively as main meals. This type of food usually contains high calories, saturated fat, sugar, and salt, but it offers insufficient amounts of essential nutrients from fresh vegetables. As a result, the excessive consumption of fast food may make people adopt poor eating habits, directly leading to an unhealthy lifestyle. Moreover, the overconsumption of processed food can contribute significantly to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes, and many other chronic illnesses. Thus, this has a negative lifelong impact on overall human health, such as experiencing serious disease or reducing life expectancy.
In conclusion, the upward trend of eating fast food among individuals stems from certain reasons, including convenience and accessibility. Although this type of food suits a hectic lifestyle of many modern individuals, fast food causes many serious illnesses and negatively affects human well-being. Therefore, I believe that well-being is the most important, so the drawbacks totally outweigh the certain benefits.
