The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) would redefine the understanding and teaching of art. Art is seen as outdated in schooling by some people, and according to them schools should place math and technology-based subjects ahead of it. However, for me, taking artistic classes not only teaches skills that AI can imitate, but also widens the perspective of students and provides them with a more holistic understanding of the world.
Firstly, artistic subjects contribute significantly to the intellectual and emotional development of students. Although AI can imitate certain artistic techniques, it cannot fully replicate the human experiences, emotions, and personal perspectives that lie at the core of creativity. When students engage in activities such as painting, music, or creative writing, they learn to express their ideas and emotions in unique ways. This process helps them develop critical thinking, imagination, and self-awareness, which are essential skills in both personal and professional life.Furthermore, creative arts provide a broader and more holistic understanding of the world. Education should not only prepare students for technical careers but also help them become well-rounded individuals. Artistic subjects encourage students to explore different cultures, philosophies, and forms of expression, allowing them to view problems from multiple perspectives. In fact, creativity often complements scientific innovation. Many technological breakthroughs require imaginative thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to approach challenges in unconventional ways.
In conclusion, although STEM subjects are increasingly important in a technology-driven society, creative arts should remain a fundamental part of education. Rather than replacing artistic disciplines, schools should aim to balance both fields in order to cultivate innovative, thoughtful, and versatile individuals.
