Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about raising the status of technological curriculum among all the subjects. At the mean time, artistic subjects often regarded as less essential, which leads to a controversial debate whether this development is beneficial. This essay will discuss both advantages and disadvantages, and my point of view will also be given accordingly.
First, it is clear that scientific and technological advancement have a positive impact on personal development and societal progress. By cultivating students significant skills, such as coding, data analysis and computer literacy, schools enable them to adapt to a rapidly changing job market and enhance their competitiveness. Furthermore, a strong emphasis on STEM subjects can drive innovation in many fields like healthcare, engineering and environment protection, ultimately contributes to long-term national prosperity.
Despite the noticeable benefits, there are some downsides that cannot be overlooked associated with this trend. If excessive emphasis on STEM subjects, students may have fewer opportunities to develop creativity, emotional expression and culture awareness, all of which are essential for well-rounded personal growth. For instance, when shcools reduce arts and music lessons, students became more stressed and less motivated, as they have no chances to express themselves in a creative way.
From my perspective, it is significant for schools to raise the awareness of scientific advancement, but only at a moderate level. Neglecting cultural and artistic development while focus solely on technological lessons may result in a next generation that lacks creativity, emotional intelligence and vitality.
In conclusion, schools should help students to seek for a balanced relationship between STEM and artistic subjects. Only by taking such measures can we ensure a sustainable and healthy society.
