Nowadays, communication technology such as smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices has developed very quickly. Some people believe that these developments bring more disadvantages than advantages. However, I partly disagree with this opinion because although there are some negative effects, the benefits are more significant.
On the one hand, it is true that mobile devices can cause several problems. Firstly, many people, especially teenagers, spend too much time on social media platforms like Facebook or TikTok. This can lead to distraction from studying or working. Some students even become addicted to their phones and cannot concentrate on their lessons. Secondly, excessive use of smartphones reduces face-to-face communication. People may prefer texting instead of talking in person, which can weaken real-life relationships. In addition, there are risks related to privacy, as personal information can be shared or stolen online by strangers.
On the other hand, the advantages of communication technology are very clear. One major benefit is that it helps people stay connected easily. Applications such as WhatsApp and Zoom allow users to make video calls and send messages instantly, even if they live far away from each other. This is especially useful for families and international businesses. Moreover, smartphones and tablets provide access to a wide range of information. Students can watch educational videos on YouTube or search for materials online to support their learning. Finally, many people can now work remotely, which saves time and transportation costs.
In conclusion, although communication technology has some disadvantages, such as addiction and privacy concerns, I believe that its advantages outweigh the drawbacks. If people use these devices in a responsible way, they can bring many positive changes to both individuals and society.
