Use of AI is increasing nowadays and so the advancement of technology, governments are now using facial recognition everywhere for security purpose and it must be the most accurate way to identify citizens, both advantages and disadvantages will be discussed in this essay.
Firstly, use of this new technology is increasing day by day and can be seen mostly in airports or borders while we enter the country. Mostly used for security purpose to avoid identity theft. While we enter the border or travel somewhere there has always been a face check at airport during immigration along with the finger print as they are the essential checks to identify a person. For instance, Indian citizen have their photo attached in each nad every public document such as adhar card, paan card and some bank documents along with passports, which made it easier for checking staff to go through a thorough check everytime.
Secondly, corporate world is taking advantage of this tool in terms to take attendence of employees so that nobody can fake the presence. Earlier, the physical book or biometrics were used for taking attendence where anybody can mark for the person physically not present at the site, but now with this technology it made one’s work easier as they don’t have to register time and every other detail physically for employees, everything will be entered on its own.
Major throwback for this will be the technical issues. When replacing the tools with face recognoition technology, it could give hard time when there will be some technical glitch in the system and if someone cannot fix it on time. As AI is increasing nowadays they can replace human shortly so chances of unemployment will also increase.
In conclusion, although problem in system can cause problems for a short time, safety will always remain a top priority and so, in my opinion, advantages definately outweigh disadvantages.
