Some people assert that imposing capital punishment is the most efficient way to make the society more secure to live, and it will prevent crimes and violence from happening. On the other hand, opponents of this viewpoint claim that the death penalty would generally lead to a more favorable outcome. In this essay, I will discuss both views concerning this issue.
Starting with the reasons why people agree with the death penalty. Firstly, people think that imposing capital punishment can prevent recidivism. As capital punishment imposed, the citizens will be more aware of such negative behavior. Secondly, besides the rise of the public consciousness, it is apparent that capital punishment can deter crime, and as a consequence leading to a more secure society.
While a lot of people agree to impose death penalty, there is still a vast majority of people who disagree with such punishment. There are two reasons why the opponents disagree. To start with, people claim that the punishment is against human rights. The opponents think that though the criminals should be punished for their sins, killing the figure isn’t morally right. Secondly, death penalty might sometimes lead to political concerns. For instance, criminals living in poverty might not have enough money to hire a trusted lawyer to defend on the supreme court, whereas the richer ones will have more chances to avoid being punished due to their power.
In conclusion, there are two stances when discussing the issue of imposing death penalty. Living in a chaotic society, some people think that capital punishment should exist as it can guarantee personal safety, while opponents suggest that the punishment is not fair for criminals.
