There is no definite way to prove if someone’s career is successful or not. Is it money or title? or is it work life balance that defines a successful career? Either way, one must have a career to be successful.
Usually, students choose university after high-school. It is the convention. Most of our parents have gone to universities before starting their career and usually children follow their footsteps. Successfully completing your university curriculum shows any potential employee that you are capable of completing a task assigned to you in a resonable amount of time. Following your university curriculum will build up you base and this base will be the foundation on which you can build up your career. Going to a university will also help you with networking oppurtunities. A university graduate is a part of their alumni network. The alumni network generally consists of thousands of graduates, spanning across decades.
However, one could also argue that experience triumphs education. A student who joins an apprenticeship program instead of going to a university with end up with multiple years of experience. On the other hand, the university graduate will be considered a fresher with no experience in the field.
In my opinion, students should join university after high-school. However, I also believe that experience is also important. So, in order to tackle this dilema, students should look for internship oppurtunities while they are studying. This would give them the oppurtunity to build their base, gain experience as well as be a part of their alumni community.
