I totally agree on information technology allows a significant amount of people to do their jobs externally when they are not in the workplace. Even though it has some drawbacks I would say there a many good outcomes.
First when a employee is suffering a common illness or some health issues and he is unable to travel to the workplace, he should be more than welcome to join the job, meeting or conference online and proceed. For instances I had a colleague who was working in my office and he had encountered a severe back pain due to a issue he had a surgery on his back and was told by the doctor to have a bed rest of one month and my workplace had given him a rest given some time to recover and they said him to take another extra month and rest at home and work in online and return when you are completely feeling well.
And in another instance a friend of mine who was pregnant got abot one to one and a half years of homestay and she was told to work online
However with these advantages there are also drawbacks like people getting their wages reduced by half or even lesser. And some researches state that when people tend to work online they are less efficient when compared to working in their workplace. This is due to the pressure and surveillance that their workplace is constantly watching them and they are more likely to work effectively.
However with all these statements i would still argue that Information technology enables many people to do their jobs outside their workplace. Guess the band score
