Recent years have witnessed the increasing popularity of the internet and because of that, some people expect that newspapers are becoming a thing of the past. I completely agree with this statement since the internet can provide more up-to-date news and cost less to get news from the internet compared to newspapers.
The primary reason why the internet can replace newspapers and become the main source for obtaining news is that the internet can give people timely updates about current events. This is because the news posted on the internet is easy to edit since it does not need to go through multiple processes like in a newspaper and therefore, it can be edited and inform people about update in current events easily. For example, newspaper can only update wrong information in their news on the next day while internet news can be updates within seconds by simply editing the updated information
Another advantage the internet news have over newspaper is that it requires less cost to get news from the internet. This means that most of the news on the internet, even from the reputable sites, can be accessed without a fee, with the exception of news subscriptions, whereas newspapers have to be bought with money that can accumulate up to a hefty fee in long-term. This is because internet news requires little to no cost to operate while publishing a newspaper cost significantly more due to the cost of raw materials and other resources required.
In conclusion, I concur with the statement that newspaper will be overtaken by the internet since internet news can provide timely update about current news and costs significantly less than a newspaper.
