Overall, tablets were the least used device for entertainment while conventional TVs contributed the highest to entertainment in 2009. Flat-screen TVs were the most significant part of screen time while conventional TVs made the least contribution to leisure in 2019.
It is obvious that, in 2009, a large percentage of about 34% of people spent their free time watching shows on conventional TVs followed by laptops which was about 20%. Only about 8% and 5% of the individuals used flat-screen TVs and tablets respectively while 15% and 18% used mobile phones and desktop computers respectively for entertainment purposes.
In 2019, flat-screen TVs were the major devices in use with a percentage of 27% followed by mobile phones with a slight difference of 1%. At this point, desktop computers and laptops were equally used by 12% of the individuals in Canada. Conventional TVs seemed to have lost their popularity among people with only 4% in usage.
