Many people believe that adverts have taken over their lives, as they can be seen everywhere. While advertisements aim to increase revenue and sales, their interference in everyday life can have adverse effects as they rob people of their privacy. This, in turn, can lead to diminished revenues instead, and cause them to lose their effectiveness.
The primary purpose of advertisements is to attract new customers and promote various products. This has been a way to sell items for a very long time. However, the rapid increase in the number of commercials around us has invaded our lives. Many people do not even search for products and the related items start popping up online. This has caused a significant number of individuals to believe that their conversations and activities are being monitored. Consequently, people feel insecure and annoyed, owing to these adverts.
This brings us to our second negative consequence. As people feel their privacy is threatened, they develop a sense of reluctance towards these very advertisements, which are intended to generate cash. As a result, many businesses suffer from this and to tackle this issue, they increase the number of advertisements. This only worsens the current condition. Alternatively, businesses should be aware of this issue and they should take a modern approach towards advertising, to make them less annoying and more engaging.
In summary, there has been an increase in the number of adverts viewed by people during a day. It has led to privacy issues which has been a cause of concern for many people. They are less likely to buy these advertised products, defeating the whole purpose of advertising.
