Currently, with the quickly development of society and the increase of inhabitants, basic services such as medical service has a high demand of population. Therefore, there is a debate about whether the public sector or companies must to offer the service. From my point of view, the service must be offer by both.
First of all, the public sector has to recognize that resources are insufficent and need the help of private sector to endeavor to provide a good service everywhere. For instance, in Peru, there are districts where the public sector with the Ministry of Health can not build a hospital owing to the lack of investment, as a result, companies are important actor in the challenge of try to attend a basic human need such as health.
In addition, research is a component of development of health, and usually public health has a smaller amount of investment in the component because its impact is not direct on citizens. In contrast, pills or medications are essential to public health and have a direct impact. In contrast, companies invest high amount of money on the development of new medications for illneses that are cronic such as cancer, diabetes, and others.
To recap, the advantages of public heath are insufficent to face the different issues of society such as: hospitals, illneses, medicines, and others. As a result, it is necessary the investment of private sector to offer a good medical service for everyone and everywhere, but considering that health is a basic human need and right. Therefore, it must be accessible to everyone.
