Band 5+: Young people should spend more time on cultural activities such as music and theatre and less time on sport. how far do you agree with this statement?

Culture has been part of the humanities for many centuries, it may occur in many forms throughout society and, it may be lost overtime. Thus, there is a sentiment that young people should spend more time on cultural activities such as music and theatre and less time on sports. However, many people disagree with the sentiment, in which pose the question, whether sport is as important as the traditional cultural activities- music and theatre- or not. It is clearly shown that theater and music have already exists for many centuries as far back as The Greek-roman empire. As reflect in many Greek-roman mythology such as Apollo – God of the sun and music- and the 9 muses. Many of the music and theater at that time created to entertain the gods. However, it is not the only way that Greek people held an activity to honor the gods, the most well-known being The Olympics and, The Pythian Games- A sport event held in honor of the gods. Even in the present-day The Olympics has been held every 4 years. This would suggest that to some extent sport had some cultural significant throughout history. Thus, Sport is as important as the traditional cultural activities as it is a cultural form. To suggest that sport is not as important as other cultural activities may cause a cultural form to be extinct which would cause more harm to culture as a whole. That is to say, young student should be able to choose the activities that they wish to partake in order to preserve the cultural diversity.
