With social advancement, the debate on how young people should allocate their time to broaden their skills and knowledge has become a significant concern. While many argue that young people should prioritize cultural activities like music and theater over sports, I partially agree with this statement as both kinds of activities play significant roles in the young individual’s life.
On the one hand, participating in cultural activities can positively impact a country’s development by raising the young awareness. The younger generation often lacks historical and cultural knowledge, leading to a limited understanding of their country’s cultural heritage. Cultural activities serve as crucial means to facilitate their access to this knowledge. For instance, the film “Song of the South” depicts the wartime context of Vietnam in the 1900s, provides a deep analysis that enables young adults to comprehend the historical events and emphasizes the significance of regaining and conserving independence but also liberty.
On the other hand, engaging in sports is crucial for maintaining the physical health of young people. Participation in sports provides young adults with opportunities for physical exercise, which is essential for their overall well-being. There is ample evidence demonstrating that sedentary lifestyles and lack of exercise contribute to various health conditions. For instance, my teacher, Ms. Hoa, a fervent language enthusiast who spends most of her leisure time immersed in language books, leads a predominantly sedentary lifestyle. This has adversely affected her health over the years, resulting in deteriorating physical well-being. Ms. Hoa’s case serves as a poignant reminder that even pursuits that offer cultural fulfillment should be balanced with physical activities to ensure holistic well-being.
In conclusion, while cultural activities can indeed broaden the knowledge of young people, it is important to recognize the importance of physical well-being. Therefore, the most intelligent balanced approach that incorporates both cultural activities and sports in terms of the comprehensive development of young individuals.
