Nowadays, there are some people who think that classrooms will not be mandatory for education by the year 2050, which I do not agree with at all. It is because face-to-face education does not just teach science or English; it helps children develop their fundamental skills.
To begin with, some individuals may tend to think that classrooms are obsolete. From their point of view, the traditional system will be replaced with online meetings due to mechanical and inconvenient nature of classrooms. Therefore, they will be able to save the unnecessary time that is spent on the way they commute every day. For instance, during the Corona Virus pandemic, many students found the online meetings quite beneficial due to being able to attend their classes from home without wasting their time on the way to school.
On the other hand, I personally believe that education in a physical environment teaches children more crucial skills than just school subjects. Firstly, one of the most important value it provides is communication skills. As you can anticipate, in primary education, children get a chance to learn how to properly communicate with their peers. However, if we isolate these children by changing the current system, they cannot find a place to practice their communication. For example, in the United Kingdom, many parents tend to educate their children at home. As a result, these children suffer from lack of communication with their peers, and they struggle to effectively talk when they become adults.
To conclude, it is undeniable that advancing technology and changing world lead some people to feel that the traditional in-classroom education system will be replaced. However, the things a classroom provides cannot be matched by another method.
