The former chart illustrates data about average monthly spend on children’s sport activities by British parents from 2008 to 2014.
The second chart demonstrates that how many children participated in three sports in Britain over the same period.
Overall, it is clear that parents spent more money on three sports in terms of football, it was significantly more popular than two other sports such as athletics and swimming.
The number of children who participated in football increased gradually from 8 million to just under 10 million. In 2008 average monthly spend on children’s sport activity was around £20. And then British parents’ spending amount grew steadily over the 6 years period. By 2014 monthly spend amount had been risen to £30 by parents.
Looking at participation, most of children enrolled in football while the lesser number of kids took part in athletics and swimming. There was an increase from 2,5 million to nearly 4 million in the number of children who participated in swimming whereas athletics boosted considerably from 1 million to just under 5 million.
