Band 5+: Some people think parents should supervise their children’s activities , while others believe children should be free to do what they want in their free time

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Opinions remain divided over children’s behaviors. While some people argue that parents can supervise closely their children’s activities, others believe that freedom is necessary for childen. This essay will first closely examine both views before reaching my final conclusion.

Granted, it is undeniable that children’s creativity can be promoted when playing without parent’s guidances. This is largely because when having more freedom in children’s activities, they can learn how to solve problems that they face by their own ways. For instance, children who are allowed to draw freely often produce more vibrant and unique artwork because their have freedom in choosing their favorite contents and colors to draw. In contrast, others who learn to draw through the guildbooks given by their parents, result in simple and uncreative paintings. As a result, some individuals accept that children should have more freedom in their behaviors.

On the other hand, there are two main reasons why some argue that parents should supervise closely their children’s behaviors. Firstly, although this phenomenon can lead to limitations in creativity and problem solving skill, parents can ensure their children’s safety by supervise their activities. The main reason is that children can easily fall into sharp fences in the playground or cut their hands by the knives when they have freedom to play. Furthermore, parent’s supervisions are essential to prevent children from unethical activities. The reason is that some children do not have ability to distinguish ethical behaviors, especially when they are not controlled by their parents. For example, some children tend to mimic others to bully their friends, or rob others’ toys when their parents have no money to pay for toys. Clearly, close supervisions from parents bring several benefits from their children.

In conclusion, while some argue that children’s creativity can be promoted when they have freedom in their activities, I firmly believe that close parental supervision is crucial for ensuring children’s safety and fostering ethical behaviors.
