Overall, the lowest propotion of fuel used was observed in Greece, while Slovakia used the most, in both years. Most the countries, except Slovakia, had the percentage of fuel consumed less than the EU average use of fuel.
In 2009, the percentage of fuel used in Slovakia was almost 90%, considerably declining to nearly 65% in next year, still exceeding EU average use of fuel. In contrast, the fuel consumption in Greece had the lowest proportions in both 2009 and 2010, with values of just over 10% and roughly 20%, respectively.
The percentages of fuel used in Austria remained stable at around 51% over the given period. The proportion of fuel consumption in Spain declined from roughly 38% in 2009 to just under 30% in the following year, whereas Italy and France experienced an increase in the fuel consumption by approximately 10%.
