overall, almost all sectors changed over time except for Comedy and Romance. It is also noticeable that Thriller always accounted for the highest percentage in both surveys.
in detail, despite declined significantly by 7%, thriller still held the first position with 42% in 2003 and 35% in 2008. The share of action films decreased insignificantly from 13% to 12%. By contrast, there was no fluctuation in romance and comedy genres, remaining stably at 12% and 3% respectively.
turning to the remaining categories, the proportion of documentary films increased slightly to 17% in 2008. And the horror sectors witnessed the same trend as documentary ones, which went up from 7% to 10% over time. The figure of science fiction domains in 2008 was 11%, more 1% than that in 2003 ( opposite to the trend of action ones)
